Jentasmic!: Will DVC values drop? - Jentasmic!

That's very interesting for sure...I hope that simply means that great deals are going to keep becoming available, and not that the agencies are going to stop taking on inventory. I couldn't blame them if they did, of course....but I'm guessing that would mean we'd just see a whole lot more "for sale by owner."

I spoke to Shontell Crawford at MagicMeets and she said that Disney is exercising their Right of First refusal less and less these days. You can pick up some great deals for the Beachclub right now

The next 6 months are going to be very interesting to see how things play out with crowd levels, airfare prices and hotel costs. I know my parents inquired into possibly selling their timeshare and the agency flat out denied them, telling them there is no market for timeshare resell right now.

We purchased directly through Disney because we did not know about the resale market. When we purchased it was still high times in the economy so we did not receive any of the types of deals that Disney is offering now.

As a DVC owner at Saratoga Springs I was a little irritated by the free upgrades but mainly because I never got an opportunity to get this offer myself before becoming an owner. I think it was a terrific marketing ploy on Disney's part. I wonder how many people actually became owners after getting to stay at Saratogo Springs. We have stayed in Values, Moderates and DVC and I know that I would pick DVC every time if I had unlimited points.

I would purchase more points in a minute, especially at the discounted prices that are popping up now if I were not so worried about the economy as a whole. I have taken four trips to Disney in just the last year but for 2009, we are planning to take only one trip to WDW.

I do worry about the economy and how it will impact DVC. If points are remaining unsold or owners are defaulting and not paying their annual dues then that could mean bad news for the rest of us owners if we have to pick up the slack.
